Popovers

Popovers were part of the traditional Sunday morning breakfast for us when we were growing up. They are best served hot with lots of butter and jam.

Time - Preparation: 5 minutes Time - Baking: 35 minutes
    Temp - Oven: 450° F (preheated)
   
Equipment:
Mixing bowl 4 - 10 oz. Custard Cups
   
Ingredients:
1 Cup Milk 1 Cup Flour
2 Eggs (Large) 1/4 Tsp. Salt
1 Tbs. Butter (Melted)  
   
Preparation:
  • Beat Eggs thoroughly
  • Add Milk and Salt to eggs and mix thoroughly
  • Add Flour and Butter and mix thoroughly
  • Refrigerate batter until use
  • Preheat oven
   
Baking:
  • Grease insides of custard cups
  • Mix batter if needed and fill each cup 2/3 to 3/4 full
  • Bake for 15 minutes at 450° F
  • Reduce heat to 350° F and bake for additional 20 minutes
  • Serve immediately

Popovers can be reheated by placing in a brown paper bag in a 350° F oven for 15 minutes
