Kifli Nut Filling

Kifli is a traditional Hungarian cookie. It can be filled with either a fruit or a nut filling. The recipes provided here are for the Dough, an Apricot Filling, and a Nut Filling.

This nut filling can be made using any type of nuts. We have typically used Walnuts.

Time - Preparation: 10 Min. Time - Cooking: 15 Min.
    Temp - Stove: Medium
   
Equipment:
4 Qt. Pot Wooden Spoon
   
Ingredients:
2 LB Ground Nuts 1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Water 3 Egg Yolks
1/2 Tsp. Cinnamon

Zest from 1/2 Lemon

1/2 Cup White Raisins (Chopped)  
   
Preparation:
  • Mix water and sugar and bring to a boil
  • Add nut to mixture and boil for 5 minutes
  • Mix in remaining ingredients and let cool
   
Baking/Cooking:
  • Once mixture is cool it can be used or stored
